About the company
Regele Porcilor is an online trading service with home delivery for live pigs, applying a centuries-old Romanian household custom — raising or slaughtering a pig at home — at national scale. The company has been operating since 2019, with its own licensed farms, a dedicated transport fleet, and a brand with a real social media following.
The problem
Law no. 122/2023 (the “Pig Law”) and ANSVSA regulations forbid households (non-commercial holdings) from selling pigs to the public. In practice, anyone wanting a piglet to raise or a pig for the Christmas slaughter must buy it from a licensed commercial supplier — yet no established, nationally licensed player currently serves this segment: the market is covered almost entirely by undocumented intermediaries.
The solution
Regele Porcilor sells live pigs — piglets for rearing and fattened pigs for slaughter — directly to individuals, with tagged, registered animals and doorstep delivery anywhere in Romania. Orders are placed online or by phone, animals are weighed on camera at the farm, and every delivery comes with full veterinary and health documentation.
Market & opportunity
- TAM: the real market is estimated at ~1.6-2.2 million pigs sold annually to households, including the undocumented trade (sources: INS, MADR).
- SAM: the licensed commercial segment for direct sales to the public — practically unclaimed by any national player.
- Trends: the legal framework is shifting in favor of licensed trade, and starting in 2026 the state subsidizes the legal purchase of piglets for households.

The structural price gap between wholesale acquisition (at the farm gate) and retail sale to the public — a margin above 100%, currently captured almost entirely by the informal trade.

Founding team
Ioan Cozma — a third-generation livestock trader with over a decade of direct experience, including a profitable cattle export business he built and ran (2012–2017). He has built the Regele Porcilor brand and operations since 2019.
